Crayon Resist

Hello!  Getting back in the swing of things after a little getaway with the family and have a card to share that I made using Floral Thread background, Butterfly Kiss, and Gratitude.  I stamped the image with Versafine Black Onyx and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I die cut the image using Labels Fourteen and colored over the flower petals with a white crayon.  After the were covered with crayon, I generously sponged the die cut (in the die) with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink.  It really makes the flower POP!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hoot!

We are heading home today from a wonderful getaway to Maggie Valley, NC... it was a first for us and we have so enjoyed ourselves!  As we head home, we are dropping our oldest off at camp for another week... she is so excited to return and proud of her because this time she is going without knowing anyone and that is quite a big step!!  I made this little card for her and hoping she gets it at the start of her week....  I used the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps set Owl Be There
and did some paper piecing with some older October Afternoon patterned paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Welcome Little One

I have a quick card to share today that I made for a recent publication call which didn't quite make the cut.   No worries though... some others were accepted and this gives me something to share with you, as stamping time has been slim to none! :)
I used two Gina K. Designs stamp sets: Special Delivery and Ticket Trio (clear).  The ticket was embossed with Versamark and white embossing powder and to coordinate with the dp I stamped the baby carriages in Stephanie Barnard ink from Clearsnap.  Quite quick and easy, which I love!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Creating with Clearsnap Blog Hop

Hello, I am part of a blog hop showcasing Tami Mayberry's stamp sets and Clearsnap ink.  It has been a special treat being on the CPS DT with some other fabulous designers and hopping along with Tami's own DT for today's hop!   Tami has illustrated some unique stamp sets and I love her CAS style of design.  Obviously with so many stamp sets it was difficult to pick, so I went back to when she first started illustrating for Gina K. Designs and chose to Special Delivery.

For this card, I used some October Afternoon patterned paper and Clearsnap Strawberry ink.  It is really quite a simple design and for me a standard layout.  Love how Clearsnap ink gives perfect coverage on rubber or clear stamps every time.
I have one more to share today using Tami's Ticket Trio stamp set:

I combined it with Simple Stories patterned paper and using Clearsnap Artichoke ink.  Quite CAS, which I love!

If you would like to see more of Tami's stamp sets, click
For more samples of Clearsnap ink, be sure to check out their blog.  Clearsnap has some wonderful products and while I have just showcased ink today, I LOVE their spritz's!

Make sure you hop along and leave a comment along the way as Tami will be giving out a prize :) Next stop on the hop is Lisa Silver...

Celebrate

Today I have a CAS card to share using the beautiful background, Floral Thread, illustrated by my friend Laura Kirstie Campbell.  I inked it up with various Memento ink pads: LuLu Lavender, Angel Pink, Cantaloupe, Summer Sky, New Sprout and stamped it onto white cardstock.   Then I stamped the sentiment (from Gratitude) with Versafine Black Oynx and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The panel was layered onto some Black Oynx cardstock and adhered to a white card base.  The butterfly (from Social Butterfly) was stamped/embossed and gently sponged using Ink Blushers.  I adhered it by the sentiment with a pop dot.
I am entering this into the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger Allegro con Brio and was inspired by the pastel colors:

Time to be Creative

Today I have something very different from a normal card to share.  I was recently at AC Moore and saw these amazing plain wood clocks and immediately thought about something I had seen Jill Foster share using wooden birds (HERE) and thought I would give it a try.

The flowers on this frame are from Petal Party and embossed using Versafine Black Oynx ink and Clear Embossing powder.  Then, I colored the flowers with a yellow and orange Big Brush Marker from Design Memory Craft     ** they blend very easily layering one color on top of the other
Here is a photo of that process:

To fill in the gaps between the flowers, I used a yellow gelato and rubbed it in liberally with my fingers.  I added the butterflies from Social Butterfly (which I again embossed with Versafine Black Oynx ink and clear embossing powder).  I colored them with two shades of blue Big Brush Markers and using permanent glue dots attached them to the frame.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the center of each flower and debated between liquid pearls and Want2Scrap bling....the latter won as I considered those holes a bit big for liquid pearls, lol!
I am amazed with how easy, fast and FUN this was to create
and hope I have inspired you to give your stamps a whirl on wood!  I had NO idea how easy it was/is!!!

Now I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby!!  There is a LOT of shaped wood pieces there... :)

I am entering this into the Penny Black Art Extravaganza and if you have any Penny Black stamps hope you will play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Release Day!!!!

Welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps July release blog hop!  All of the July releases are available right here (yep, you don't have to wait until tonight!)  Hope you can join us over on in the SNSS forum on SCS for the party as well as a fabulous set of challenges throughout the day!

If you arrived from Taylor's blog you are in the right place and if not, be sure to start at the beginning: the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog.  One lucky commenter on our blog hop today will win the ENTIRE release!!!

I was thrilled to work with two stamp sets, the first of which is Sheltering Cherry Blossom:

I heat embossed the image with Versafine Black Oynx and Clear Embossing powder before coloring it with Spectrum Noir markers.  The patterned paper is from my scrap stash and Basic Grey which I thought went well with my cherry blossoms.

The next stamp set I am showcasing today is Bridge of Hope...and I know, where is the bridge???  Will share a CAS one soon, I promise :)

I combined this verse from the set with the Music Background stamp.
I just LOVE the hymn that Dina included in this set and it holds a very special place in my heart.  Do you know the story behind this hymn by Horatio Spafford?  It truly shows the comforting hand of God amidst many heartbreaking trials...here is a link.

Wonderful Day

I have a card to share today that I made with some new Penny Black stamps and Memento ink.  I was inspired by a yellow/blue card on the Penny Black blog last week.  For this card, I used some stamps illustrated by my dear friend Laura Kirstie Campbell.  The first is a background stamp, Flower Flourish which I stamped with Memento Dandelion ink (picking up a smidge of color that was already on the stamp, which created a cool effect, I think).  The focal image is from A Flight of Thread and was embossed with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.  After it had cooled, I colored it using Fantastix coloring tools and Bahama Blue and Dandelion ink.  Finally, I die-cut using Labels Twenty, wrapped with ribbon, stamped a sentiment from Gratitude and added some Want2Scrap bling.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Happy 4th of July!  I have some exciting news to share as I have recently joined the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps design team.

I kept this card very simple and let the Simple Stories Summer Fresh patterned paper dictate the color scheme. I used a favorite SNSS stamp set, Together Silhouettes, with some Clearsnap ink.  I hope you can join us Monday, July 9th for the upcoming release as we will be having a blog hop and some fun challenges throughout the day. You can find more details HERE.

Thank You

Hello and hard to believe it is July!  It is hot here in NC and looking to get over to the lake for a bit this afternoon to cool off!
Today I have a card to share that I made with some Penny  Black stamps, Tsukineko ink and Spectrum Noir markers.

I have some Copics, but honestly the price at times just rubs me the wrong way so I thought I would try Spectrum Noir, especially since they were $7.99 a pack (6 per pack) last week at AC Moore.  LOVE the pinks and obviously pink is a favorite color.  First, I stamped the Scented Message image using Versafine Oynx Black and embossed it with clear embossing powder. That step gives details images a clearly defined and slightly raised lines to contain the coloring a bit.  Then I used Spectrum Noir BP2 and BP6 to color in the flowers, the leaves were colored using Copics (as at the time I didn't have greens in SN, I have since remedied that, lol).  After the image was colored, I die-cut it using Labels Twenty and while still in the die, gently sponged with Desert Sand.  The sentiment is from So Blessed.  The Flower Flourish background was stamped using Rose Bud on Passionate Pink card stock.  I added a bit of corrugated cardboard and did some faux stitching along the top.

Here is a close-up (LOVE how the flowers just pop):

I used Viva Decor pearl pens to add a liquid pearl onto the center of each flower.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
