CAS Grand Damask

I made this for two challenges over on SCS: CAS and Sketch. I used two new sets from Gina K Designs: Grand Damask and Fanciful Tags and love how this turned out (oftentimes I struggle with CAS).  The turquoise really pops with the white and Kraft and this will certainly be a color scheme I will use again.  I added pearl bling and some Webster's Page Turquoise Lace.

I am ready for another week especially since I have some exciting news to share very soon.  I have been sitting on it for over a month and I have got to say I am about to burst!!! :oP  Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful start to your week!

Grand Damask

Grand Damask and Fanciful Tags are two new Gina K. Designs stamp sets illustrated by Nina Brackett.  I know many were asking for flourishes and this set has them as well as this large damask image...   I used a Spectrum ink pad and made a rather simple design which will be easy to recreate for bulk cards.  I stamped on Ivory cardstock, layered on In the Navy and added the sentiment which fits nicely in the SU Oval Punch and Scallop Oval Punch.  Just good to know, ya know!

Fall baseball has started back up so after school today we are headed back to the baseball diamond.  Our 2 year old LOVES being anywhere near a ball park and there are quite a few little ones just his size too!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend...  Thanks for stopping by!

CP78

I made this for the Card Patterns challenge this week. I used the stamps Nature Walk, the sentiment from Merci Bouquet, and the Bella Brocade Art Stencil (all from Layers of Color). I also used Tim Holtz Fired Brick Distress ink, as well as Memento Cantaloupe. The flower was stamped several times, sponged with both yellow/red ink and layered.
Here is a closer look at the way I layered the flower:

I am hoping (crossing fingers and toes) that my modem for high speed internet will come in the mail today. Our little area of the country is finally going HIGH SPEED....yippee!! I have missed blog hopping lately and looking forward to catching up on everything I have missed. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

GKD Sneak Peek: Grand Damask and Fanciful Tags

Gina K Designs is having another release this coming Thursday night at 10pm (CST) and two of the sets being released are Grand Damask and Fanciful Tags from Nina Brackett. If you have been looking for flourishes, a damask image, sentiments in a beautiful fancy font or a set of stamps to match up with Fancy Tags from Spellbinders...well this set is for you!

For this card, I used Vintage Backgrounds to *KISS* on the damask image before stamping on Ivory cardstock. Can you see the *kissing* possibilities with this image, oh my! The birthday sentiment is from Fanciful Tags, just love the font of these sentiment. I used the colors Black Oynx, Lovely Lavender and Ivory, as well as some 5/8" Black Gingham Ribbon.

This next card I kept simpler and have found some Nesties that work very well with this large damask image (Big Scallop Circles and Labels Nine...though I am sure there are more!)...

I stamped the flourishes on Liptstick Red cardstock using Fired Brick Tim Holtz Distress ink and again used Black Oynx and Ivory.

I know the Gina K Designs Design Team has created some beautiful designs with this set and will definitely be hopping along over there myself. You can find more information on Gina K's blog.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Precious...

The week has just flown by.... School is going well and we are back in the swing of things. Stamping time has been hard to come by this week, but I have managed a little bit ;o)

This card uses a favorite color combo of Lipstick Red and Sweet Corn. I used the stamp sets Vintage Backgrounds and Hugs and Prayers, which has the most precious Scripture verses especially during life's most difficult moments. I used the back end of one of the stamps with a flower and used it as a flourish... just a big fan of flourishes.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Tuesday Trigger: An Exercise in Exotic

A quick card to share today that I made with Merci Bouquet from Layers of Color. I used the colors from the Just for Fun Color Challenge and made this for the Tuesday Trigger: An Exercise in Exotic. I was inspired by the flower on the bottom of the door of the jewel box and the patterns. If you haven't seen the box, it is beautiful and oh so inspiring!! The top of the card was stenciled with the Bella Brocade (a favorite of mine) Art Stencil.

It has been a busy weekend and start of the week with special meetings at our church. The Lord blessed and we were able to spend some time with a dear couple we have known for years .... Today we start back to school (homeschool) and looking forward to more structure to our day. If you ask me in 2 months, I will be longing for a break I am sure. :o) Thanks so much for stopping by and hope to get back to commenting on blogs later today!

CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Welcome to the 4th CSS Gina K Designs Blog Hop! Carolina challenged the CSS Alumni team to create a card based on this sketch:

Is that not a fun and challenging sketch? It is based on Cheri's card from the very first CSS Alumni Blog Hop and certainly stretched my creative thinking!
Here is my card:

I used some of My Minds Eye (So Sophie) patterned paper and kept to a brown/green color combo. Instead of a clean circle, I used Labels Nine to form my opening shape. I used the stamp sets: Lovely Labels, Fun Year Round and Inside and Out. Quite a fun card to put together. Your next stop on the CSS Alumni Hop is Joan.... can't wait to see what she has created!

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope to hop along myself...

With Gratitude

Today I have a card I made late last night using Nature Walk... It turns out the Venti Vanilla Latte had enough caffeine to keep me perking until after 1 am, so I decided to stamp a smidge :o) I used the Art Stencil (which these are so easy to use!) Belle Brocade and stenciled it with Memento Desert Sand before stamping over it with the flourish.

This card fits a couple of challenges, the color combo challenge at Just for Fun and the current Papercrafts August Challenge of using Buttons, Brads, and Ribbon. I managed to use all three on this card with sort of surprised me.... Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

Belated Birthday Card

My dad turned 62 on Sunday and due to my crazy week this didn't go postal until Monday. I just realized I used 5 different stamp sets on this card: Vintage Backgrounds, Masculine Messages, Inside and Out, Lovely Labels (just a fav!), and Timeless Treasures. The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye which I purchased back in July and finally got the nerve to cut it...so difficult to do. It just makes me sad to cut into a 12x12 piece, silly I know. Anyone know if My Mind's Eye makes 8x8 or 6x6 paper packs? Wouldn't that be cool!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

A Week Late...Blog Hop

Here I am FINALLY posting my cards from Melanie's Blast from the Past Hop (from over a week ago, yikes). I just adore Melanie's set Inspiration Mosaic, it was the one she asked me to Guest Design with and honestly the versatility of this set is amazing! I made two cards for the hop... The first one was inspired by one Melanie made and had published in CardMaker magazine (you know she is in EVERY issue, quite the ROCK STAR!). I kept her layout but had my own spin on it and did a little bleaching... Fun and very fall-ish, if that were a word, lol!

This next card combines Inspiration Mosaic with Just So Sporty (another fav, especially since the boys in my house LOVE sports!)

I used the Star CB Embossing folder, as well as an embossing folder from Tim Holtz (which the name escapes me). The colors were inspired by my son's baseball team and hope you will forgive me, but not a Dallas Cowboys fan at all....hee-hee :o) You can find more inspiring creations on Melanie's post HERE which also includes links to more of her designing friends.

Hoping to get back in the swing of things blog wise this week.... Dh is doing better and has a follow up appt. with the cardiologist tomorrow. We know it is in His hands and trust Him completely.
Thanks for stopping by!

Nature Walk ~ Flourish

I made this card using Nature Walk from Layers of Color and a Scripture sentiment from my collection of wood mounted stamps. This also fits for the Just for Fun Color Challenge #22 and the Card Patterns #75 challenge.

I have been quite absent from blogging (and visiting blogs for that matter) and honestly haven't given it any thought.... My dear husband was in the hospital over the weekend with Lone Atrial Fibrillation. Things are settling down now and we have much to be thankful for in many answered prayers this weekend. His heart went back into rhythm on its' own about 15 hours after it went haywire...that was a LONG 15 hours. I learned more about afib, than I ever thought was possible at my husband's young age (he is 40). I have never prayed so much in one day as I did on Saturday and honestly the Lord gave me a peace each step of the way that I cannot explain other than that it "passeth all understanding" ~ Phil. 4:7. All tests have shown there is nothing wrong with his heart, it was just a "lone" event...no way to explain it or why it occurred. We are just very thankful and have a new look on this life the Lord has blessed us with.... I do have one verse to share that was shared with me (from dear Grace) that is so very encouraging to me, Ps. 73:26, "My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever."

I pray you have a wonderful day and hope to be back to *normal* next week.....
Blessings,
