Brocade Blue Floral

I love the clean layout of this card. The flowers from A Year of Flowers were stamped on Brocade Blue cardstock and then highlighted with a blue Copic. Afterwards I paper pieced them into position and was able to go over the edge so didn't have to be so careful about cutting the image. Trust me, I learned that from many mistakes ;o))

Have a great day!

Dino-Mite

Each week I try to participate in the scrapbook challenge on StampTV. This past week I created this page:

This is a favorite photo of my 9 year old son on a family hike we went on last year. Obviously the fog had set in and there wasn't much of a view, but the focus of the photo was on him anyways. He was recreating a pose from the movie Trek (a documentary about some young men who hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2001).

It turns out that my name was drawn for a free stamp set from Gina K. and I chose Melanie's new stamp set Wee Tees. This stamp set is just adorable and will be perfect for scrapbooking my youngest son's first year as well as for various cards. It is not a limited to just baby cards at all...I think it is a great kid set too! The set arrived in the mail yesterday and I just had to make a card when I got home from town...

The size of the onesie is perfect...it is nice and big and wonderful for paper piecing. I just adore my little one walking around the house in his onesie. With the recent heat down here in NC, it keeps him nice and cool!  Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Friendship Floral

I finally had a chance to get a new stamp set (Elegant Flowers from the Floral Frenzy StampTV Kit) all inky and love how it turned out. I will say that rounding the bottom corners came as an afterthought and....me thinks I like it! :o))) All kidding aside, I really need to use some of these corner punches more often. (Oftentimes I forget that I have them...which is better than when I can't find them, LOL!) I created this card for a GKD challenge on SCS which was to Adorn a Corner by Theresa. I used some paper flowers I recently order and colored them with my SU markers to create a perfect match.

Off to get busy today...kids have standardized testing this week. I fed them real good so hopefully their brains will stay sharp :o)) Have a great day!

Many Thanks

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers concerning my dad...I appreciate the personal emails and posts here on my blog. Dad made it through just fine. :o) After various tests the doctor's did confirm that he had a heart attack on Saturday, but there was no damage to his heart. He had Angioplasty (balloon and stent) on Wednesday and is recovering at home. It is so strange because my dad has low blood pressure, normal cholesterol, eats right, exercises and is in good shape.  Not the typical "Angio" case...

I made this card last week for a color challenge on StampTV: orange, yellow and red. It was a fun little card to put together and the plaid dp worked great in combining the colors.
Well, after being out of town I have a bit to get straight around the house so no stamping here until my ducks are in a row .... which is hopefully tomorrow :o) Have a great weekend!

Cocoa Kissed

I finally broke down and order the StampTV Kit... Once the special was posted and I won the gift certificate from Center Stage, it pushed me right over the edge and I HAD to have it. ;o) So much for self-control!  The kit has two stamp sets and I used the set Bold Flowers for this card. It reminds me of the retired stamp set Love Without End, just better! For this card, I used the stamp kissing technique and the crackle background is perfect!

I may be hit and miss for a few days. My dad was admitted to the hospital with chest pains over the weekend and they are waiting to do a catherization hopefully today sometime. The Lord is in control and we trust Him completely... nothing is outside His sovereign will, and we rest in that.   Have a great day!

A Lotta' Coffee

This was a fun little card to put together that uses the technique paper piecing and the stamp set My Cuppa' Joe.  Just a note: you definitely need really sharp scissors to get around the inside handle of the coffee mugs.  My scissors were a little gummy from my Zots adhesive and once I cleaned them they cut much better!  The Creamy Caramel panel I scored using my Scor-Pal and love the way it created a frame. (I am sure I have seen it somewhere so not sure who to give credit to...) The designer paper used on the coffee mugs is from the Basic Grey Sultry line...honestly, you just can't go wrong with Basic Grey!

Off to get busy about the day! :o)

Emboss Resist

A technique I haven't done in a long time is Embossed Resist, it is a easy wow effect that just sets a card apart from the ordinary. I used the stamp set Flowers for Daisy and the colors from yesterdays Color Challenge on SCS: Bordering Blue, So Saffron and Pink Pirouette. I am tickled with how it came out. After I stamped the floral image in Versamark, I used Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed the flowers. I allowed it to cool and then sponged over it with So Saffron Classic ink and love the way the flowers popped!

I am having a terrible time with allergies or a cold, I am not quite sure which it is...just makes you feel awful and so tired. I have sneezed so much I am driving myself crazy! On that note....I am off to try to be more productive than yesterday. Have a great day!

Pink Tulip

I am rather drawn to using the stamp set A Year of Flowers lately and used the colors Wild Wasabi and Regal Rose for this card. I stamped the Tulip flower with Regal Rose Craft Ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a nice edge and colored it in with Copics. The background Wild Wasabi panel was put through the CB Stylized Flowers folder. I thought it needed a little something and this gave it the effect I was looking for. It is a busy day here so need to get to it. Have a great day!

Floral Trio

I made this card using the stamp set A Year of Flowers for the Color Challenge on StampTV. The challenge was to combine green and pink and we could use any shades of those colors we wanted to. I decided to use a favorite color combination: Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. I colored the flowers with Koh-i-Noor pencils and blended it with Goo Gone. I also went over each flower with Clear Embossing Glaze.

We enjoyed Easter yesterday and I am already looking forward to scrapbooking some of the photos we took from our day. Just need to get them to to photo lab! Have a great day!

A Little Basket

It is hard to believe it is Easter weekend already. Here is a little paper basket I made which features an InStyle Stamps image.
Before I folded up the side pieces I went around it with the Scallop Edge punch to just fancy it up a bit. I have been busy the past few days with getting the house cleaned and cooking for the weekend so stamping it is a bit on the backburner :o)) I am sure I will squeeze in a little time this weekend... I will certainly be able to stamp without any guilt seeing as EVERYTHING is clean. I love that feeling!

One more thing...I have been meaning to post this on my blog for sometime now... Michelle from Shellpole's Snippets bestowed this award to me a couple of week's ago and it was just so sweet of her. She has a wonderful blog and I love seeing her beautiful cards! It is definitely worth a visit.

Have a great day!

Thankful Thursday on InStyle Stamps

Every Thursday is Thankful Thursday on InStyle Stamps and this week Jennifer B. has a wonderful sketch from Maria Bell. Be sure to check it out on the ISS Blog. For this card I used the colors from this week's Color Challenge on SCS: Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Close to Cocoa. Jennifer chose a sketch from Maria with an oval for the main image and I just love it. The Retro Girls fit in there so nicely. I used Sasha for mine and stamped her twice so that I could paper piece her to add a bit of dimension.

Well, I managed to do two posts in one day and I am amazed! Have a great day!

Plaid Lion

I created this card for the sketch challenge on StampTV last week. I loved all of the blocking off on the sketch and used some scrap plaid paper I had in my bin. This card features Asela's stamp set Zoo Animals. I stamped several lion images (which were colored with Copics) and layered him to be 3 dimensional. If I get a chance today between errands and my son's early season Little League game I may be back to share another card I have been working on...but you know how that goes. :o) Sometimes the best laid out plans go awry!
Have a great day!

I have such exciting news to share.... I was picked as one of ten to be Center Stage on Gina K's StampTV for April. I am so excited that one of my cards was selected... the others are just gorgeous and the ladies are so uber (yes, it is a word *~*) talented! It is an honor to be amongst them that is for sure! StampTV is such a wonderful website...not only are there forums, wonderful challenges, but also video tutorials from Gina K herself! If you're not a member yet, remember, it's totally free, so join StampTV today. Upload your cards and you may be Center Stage next month!
My card is below and one I have shared here before....

I will ride on this excitement for today :o) Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Monochromatic Trees

The Color Challenge on Stamp TV this past week was to make a monochromatic card...I went with some greens: Handsome Hunter and Sage Shadow and tried to "spring up" the stamp set Tree Silhouettes.   I didn't have the right color green ribbon so used some green tulle I had to add a bit of texture.  I think the Stampin' Up! Top Note Die is my favorite new SU product from this past year.   I also like using it on the inside of my cards, just a nice touch.   By the way, are any of the new SU Sizzix dies worth looking into?  I am a bit out of the loop on those and would like to purchase before my demo status ends :o)

Going to be a busy start to the week.  After school today my youngest has his 1 year check-up so I will be heading to town for that and then running around doing some errands. Have a great day!

STV Color Challenge

Earlier this week I had the chance to do a Color Challenge from StampTV which was to use the colors Lavender Lace and Old Olive. I inked up my new A Year of Flowers stamp set and colored it with Koh-i-Noor pencils. I believe this is a pansy (I am not up on horticulture at all so forgive me if I am mistaken) and thought it would be perfect for this color challenge.
The background on the Old Olive layer was stamped with a leaf and also the Canvas BG from SU.

The past two days have been busy... It turns out another one of my children decided to get sick :o) Honestly, I don't think we have made it a straight two weeks this year without someone getting a virus or other illness. Any free time I have had this week has been in geared towards organizing my craft area. I bought some craft cubes from Michael's and have been trying to organize my *chaos*...it is quite an endeavor I assure you!
Have a great day!
